Tour Description

As soon as you disembark the ship you will see you private driver holding a sign with your name on it ready to take you the roughly 1.5 hour drive into Rome. As you will not have to use public transport or fight the crowds we will have you in the city and touring in no time.
We like to begin this tour by first visiting Colosseum and the Roman Forum as soon as you arrive. We see this area first as Rome's summer sun can be very hot and we like to make sure you are as comfortable as possible throughout the day. Learn about, gladiators, senators, emperors, legends, myths and much more while we tour Ancient Rome. With our professional guide in Rome, and reservations we will not have to wait in line allowing us time to cover both the Colosseum and the Roman Forum inside and out.

After visiting the Ancient City we make our way into the heart of present day Rome to see the gigantic white Monument of Vittorio Emanuelle II and one of Rome's main squares, Piazza Venezia. While trying to keep you cool and out of the blazing sun we head into the shadows of the mainly pedestrian, narrow cobblestone streets of Rome where we find some of the best sites in the City. The mist off the Trevi Fountain will be a nice treat as we throw coins over our shoulders ensuring a return trip to Rome. We visit to the Pantheon to see an architectural wonder of the world and stand in amaze as we enjoy one of the world's best preserved Roman structures build in the 1st century AD. Another one of Rome's most famous squares which will also visit is Piazza Navona whose central fountain, The Fountain of the Four Rivers was built by the great architect and sculptor, Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Around this time of the day everyone should be ready for to indulge in the fine Roman cuisine. Let your stomach do the talking, or let us recommend great restaurants in the area based on your pallet. During lunch, reflect on what we've seen, relax and recharge as the Vatican is still yet to come.

Once arriving to the Vatican we are again fully prepared with reservations ensuring that we are not wasting time waiting in line, or standing around unnecessarily in the sun. In the Vatican we will first see the largest collection in the world; the Vatican Museums. In the Museums we have art which spans from ancient to modern with the Greek and Roman Statuary Collection, the Gallery of the Maps, Gallery of the Tapestries, Rooms of Raphael and Old Apartments. Of course when visiting the Vatican, we must take the time to learn Michelangelo's story and then gaze into his ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. which is the last thing we will visit in the Museums before heading into St. Peter's Basilica, the largest church in the world. With it's larger than life statues, magnificent dome and attention to detail you can truly feel a sense of divinity.
After visiting the Basilica you will have some time to swing by the souvenir shop before meeting back up with the driver for your return to the ship in a comfortable, air conditioned, luxury vehicle.
