Naples is truly a city which is bustling with life, colors, smells and flavors that top other regions in Italy by a landslide.   With its unique position on the Mediterranean Sea, Naples is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world dating back to around the 9th century BC. Today, the Port of Naples welcomes annually the 2nd most amount of passengers in the world, just behind Hong Kong. Don't waste your day fighting with the crowds, have our private driver and guide meet you at the port where you will begin your day excursion in comfort.

Our English speaking driver will be waiting for you as soon as you get off the ship to bring you to your private air-conditioned vehicle where we will start the day first heading into the heart of Naples where we will tour you by car through the city seeing some of the famous sites that Naples has to offer such as Castel Nuovo and Piazza Municipio.

Generally, in order to avoid the mass amount of visitors arriving by ship, we first head south, down the Coast to experience the joys of the unforgettable seaside and coastline.

When we reach Sorrento you will have time to exit the vehicle and explore the historical center of town. On clear days, we have views of the Island of Capri, Vesuvius and Naples itself. After Sorrento we will make our way further down the winding cliff coastal roads to Positano. This part of the trip is literally breathtaking, not only due to the beauty of the landscape, but also because you are perched on cliff roads looking down hundreds of feet to the sea below. 

Depending on the schedule and your level of hunger, it will soon be time to stop for lunch. With the fertile soil surrounding Vesuvius, the farmland in the Campania region comes to produce many of Italy's most popular dishes such as the Neapolitan thick crust pizza, buffalo mozzarella cheese, and of course Italy's famous digestive lemon liqueur; Limoncello.

After lunch, we head to Pompeii when the crowds have disappeared. When arriving in Pompeii you will meet your private Pompeii tour guide where we will begin a walking tour of the ruins lasting around 2 hours. In this amazing archaeological site you will experience how it was to live in Ancient times and why it is so important to us today. Throughout this part of the tour we will visit the grand villas of the rich, apartments of the poor, bath houses, textile workshops, food courts, temples of the gods and the lupanare (or brothel). With body casts frozen in time, this Ancient city had absolutely no chance to escape the sudden wrath of Vesuvius and the city was buried without warning leaving it in the well preserved state it is in today.

Once the guided tour of Pompeii is complete you will have the chance to visit the some of the local souvenir shops, or indulge once again in the fine culinary delights of the area, before being chauffeured back to your ship in comfort.
